ABS Sensor Rings

All antilock brake systems control tyre slip by monitoring the relative deceleration rates of the wheels during braking. If one wheel starts to slow at a faster rate than the others, or at a faster rate than that which is programmed into the antilock control module, it indicates the wheel is starting to slipand is in danger of b reaking traction and skidding by locking up. The ABS system responds by momentarily reducing hydraulic pressure to the brake system on the affected wheel or wheels.

Electronically operated solenoid valves are used to apply, hold, release and reapply hydraulic pressure to each brake. This produces a pulsating effect, which can usually be felt in the brake pedal during hard braking.

The rapid modulation of brake pressure in the brake circuit reduces the braking load on the slipping wheel and allows it to regain traction, thus preventing skidding through wheel lockup. It is the equivalent of pumping the brakes, except that the ABS system does it automatically for each brake circuit, and at speeds that would be impossible for a person to achieve-up to dozens of times per second depending on the system.

Once the rate of deceleration for the affected wheel comes back in line with the others, normal braking function and pressure resume, and antilock reverts to a passive mode.

Jenkin Bros has long been a supplier of ABS Sensor Rings (Tone Rings, Exciter Rings, Pole Rings) for the road transport industry. We stock a wide variety to suit most makes on the road.

Jengrip Air-Over-Hydraulic Vice

Productivity in repetitive milling and drilling operations can be greatly enhanced by the JENGRIP JBV150 air-over-hydraulic vice.

The Australian designed and manufactured vice, using all Australian made components in its construction, has an aperture of 150 mm and a gripping pressure of 5 tonnes with 100 psi pressure.

However, it is equally at home gripping small, or low strength components through the use of a regulator in the air supply line (each 20 psi supply = 1 tonne grip.)

JENGRIP'S simple pneumatic operation and half-a-second opening and closing time enables it to provide greater productivity from today's breed of CNC controlled machining centres.

Re-loading time is significantly reduced compared with conventional vices and/or chucks and the grooved base of the vice permits quick and accurate set ups using tenons.

JENGRIP measures 240 mm wide, 540 mm long and 150 mm high and weighs 47 kgs.

It comes with 12 mm forged lifting eye, one set of hard jaws, threaded holes for on-board mounting of your control valve and a built-in non-return valve which maintains gripping pressure if the compressor, or air line fails. Use of an air line oiler is recommended for the system to prolong the life of the O rings.

JENGRIP'S steel frame is extremely rugged and the unit is designed for low maintenance and an excellent life expectancy.
